Christmas Salisbury Steaks


Every year, my husband requests this meal for Christmas. It is rich and savory, but doesn't cost a fortune. While you can find all the ingredients at Aldi, I especially love those listed in bold.


Ingredients:

 

1lb Simply Nature Organic Grass Fed Ground Beef

1/2 t garlic powder

1/2 t Italian herb seasoning

1 t Worcestershire sauce

1 egg

1/4 C bread crumbs

2 T salted butter

1 package Baby Bella Mushrooms, sliced

2 T flour

1/2 C Peaks & Tides Cabernet Sauvignon

2 C beef broth

1 pkg Reggano Wide Egg Noodles

1 pkg French Green Beans


Recipe:

 
  1. Preheat oven to 350.

  2. Mix beef, pepper, salt, garlic powder, Italian herbs, Worcestershire sauce, bread crumbs, and egg. Stir by hand until just mixed.

  3. Form 4 patties.

  4. Heat skillet over medium, melt butter, and sear patties on both sides.

  5. Remove patties to baking dish.

  6. Remove all but 1T oil from the pan. Add mushrooms and sautee until softened.

  7. Deglaze pan with Peaks & Tides wine.

  8. Add beef broth. Bring to boil.

  9. Reduce to simmer for 3-5 min.

  10. Thicken with slurry of flour and cold water.

  11. Pour sauce over beef patties.

  12. Bake until patties reach 150 degrees.

Serve over buttered egg noodles and with a side of blanched French green beans.
